    The shoes of long ago.
    long ago our grandfathers and grandmothers used almost no shoes going to school or often going to Mass.They used no shoes until ,until hey would be 9 or 10 years of age. During winter they used walk to school each morning and often 3 ft of snow on the ground without shoes or stockings only bits of rags folded around their feet.
    When their feet would get sore on summer or in winter, they used go to the bog and dip them in bog- water ,and run around until their feet would soften and then take out the thorn if it was in it.
    At that time their feet used be so hardened so that they
