  1. The roads
Long ago the first road was made by Daniel O' Connell when he came out of jail .The pay the men were getting was a sixpence or a shilling a day and stirabout for their dinner and roast now and again .Michael Kelly's father was making a road from Acres to Lanaught and while he was making it . They people used go up an old road near Bolands with cars and came out again beyond Lanaught again. There was an old road going from Martin's Corry's up to Killanena, but it is covered with bushes now ,it was called bogroad.
