  1. In the townland of Gortaveha there is a holy well. Long ago thousands of people gathered from far and near to this holy well on the fifteenth of August to be cured. One day the woman of the house brought in water to boil potatoes.
    They were down nearly all day long and at lent she looked at them and saw that the water was not boiling, so she took it up and threw it out
