  1. There are many fairs held in my Parish. There is one in four-roads one in Ballyforan on the 14th October.
    There is a fair held in Ballygar every month and pigs, sheep, and cattle are sold in it.
    There is fairs held also in Brideswell, Adascragh, and Athleague.
    When the man who buys the cattle pays for them the man who sold them gives him some money for luck, and it is called "luck penny". It was an old custom to "spit" on the money that was given for luck.
