- Old Houses.
There are many old ruins of houses in this Parish. They were called mudwall houses. They had thatched roofs and half doors and holes in the walls for windows. The chimneys were made of straw and sticks and was situated in gable end of the house. The floors were made of earth.
The sort of lights they had in the old houses was rush candles. They were made from rushes dipped in tallow.- Collector
