- In olden times the people made rye bread and barley bread.
They also made boxty bread and this is how it was made. First the potatoes are peeled, then they are scraped on a grater, and put into a piece of clean cloth and squeezed. The water that was squeezed out of the potatoes was put into a bowl, and some people used it for starch. The (the) contents was mixed through flour (for) to make the boxty.
