  1. There are not many old houses in my village as they are nearly all new ones. Long ago the people lived in thatched houses as there were no slates that time. The walls of the old houses were made of mud dried in the Sun. The floors of the rooms were made or clay. The windows of the old houses were very small and could not be raised up or down. There was a bed in the kitchen near the fire called a settle Bed.
