  1. Old Landlords.
    Most of the Land of Ireland was owned by the Landlords long ago. Only a few of these Landlords lived in England and they were mostly Protestants. Their agents were often very bad cruel men who collected the rents and sent them over to their masters. Sometimes a man was evicted or put out of his land just when he had paid the rent. If a man improved his dwelling on his farm the only rewards he had to get the rent raised on
