  1. Long ago there were no schools such as we have now. There was an old school in the village of Derrycahill.
    It was situated on John Lynch's land. The teachers name was James Higgins from Athlone.
    Each schoolar used to have to bring him every night on (there) turn to keep him for the night and rich people used to give him money.
    The schoolars those days had no deske or seats
