  1. Local Forges.
    There are seven forges in this parish. People have been smiths since the time of Connor Mac Nessa. It is said that one day the holy family went by the wend-swept road Our Lady lost the pin of her (proach) cloak whitch she had wrapped round her.
    Joseph asked a cowherd in a field for a thorn which would do for a brooch.
    The cowherd said he was too busy to look for one, although he had nothing to do but to watch the beasts.
