Our churn is a dash churn. The principal parts of a churn are the lid, dash, and the little cup. The cows are milked every morning and night the milk is brought in and strained into a clean basin or bowl, it is left there until the next morning and it is skimmed into another basin for the churning. First the churn is washed with water, then the cream is put in, then the dash and lid is put on. It is churned up and down until the butter is made.
