  1. Churning is carried on in nearly every farmers house. We have a churn at home it is the shape of barrell resting on a stand. There is never paint put on a churn, it should be scrubbed white.
My father keeps four cows at home. They are milked twice a day every morning and every night. The milk is brought in and strained into a milk basin and it is left there for twenty-four hours until the cream rises. Then the cream is skimmed off the milk and put into another basin it is stirred gradually with a wooden spoon because if it is no stirred there would be a different colours in the butter.
