  1. Once upon a (tl) time there lived a man and his wife and baby. They were just going to bed and they heard a great noise in the cowhouse. The man went out to see what was wrong and he could not see anything. As he was returning to the house he heard an awful cry and when he went upstairs the baby was dead. The fairies took the baby and left another thing in its place.
