  1. When St Muiredachs college was built in Ballina the Protestants were very jealous. They built a Protestant college beside it which proved to be a failure. The Protestant minister with his wife and little girl went to live in it. One day the woman and the little girl were walking around outside. The woman stooped and picked up some dirt. She flung it towards the Catholic college with disrespect and from that day her little girl never grew an inch. She was a dwarf.
