  1. there was an old school in basis fam in Gurteen. Mr. Nolan used to teach in this school. Mr Nolan had no English at all and all the [?] work in this school was done in Irish. The boys in this school had no copied and they used to write on slated. This man stayed in Ryans in Dalgan. This man was very well liked by all the people. It is said that this mans wages were got by voluntary subscriptions from the people. The pay he got was one point ten a week ad, and his keep.
