  1. There are three forges in the parish. Mr Bill Cavanagh, and John Cavanagh are the smiths. Their people have been smiths for many years. One forge is at Modreeny, and the two others in Cloughjordan. One of the forges is at a crossroads, and the other two are in the town of Cloughjordan. The forge has a slated roof. There is a double door on the forge. There is one fireplace in the forge. The smith shoes horses and asses. The smith makes farm implements. The smiths do nothing in the open-air only shoe-wheels.
