    Long ago in the time of the Bards a certain King lived on the Galway side of the Shannon. The King had only one eye. Now a certain Bard who was very covetous came to the king and demanded his other eye.
    The King knew if he refused the eye he would be made the laughing stock of Ireland. So he pulled out his eye and gave it to the King.
