  1. The local forge is situated about a mile from Listowel. There are twelve forges in the parish. These are the smiths, Moss Mahony, Patrick Tarrant, Daniel Bunyon, Patrick OConnor, John Moore, Thomas Murphy, John Stack, Mick Holyoak, Daniel Stack, James Moore, Ned Buckley, and Con Canty. These forges have been in the district for many years. They are mostly in Listowel town backways except Mahoneys. It is near a stream and Buckeys it is near a place called the six crosses. Some forges are roofed with slates and the others are roofed with tin. There are two
