- (continued from previous page)The herbs growing in our farm at home are daisies, butter cups, thistles, dogleaves, ferns, chickenweeds, redweed, caisreabán, dandelion, crow foot, praiseach buidhe, slawnless, rushes, felistrium, nettles, mínscoth, buachallán, and rushes. Both are the sign of poor land. Thistles and clover grow in rich land. Nettles are boiled and the water given to cows with a murn. The roots of comfrey are cut up small for a sprain. Slawnless is put to a cut to stop the blood. Speedwell is drawn like tea and strained and given to the person with yellow jaundice. Dogleaves are rubbed up to a burn of a nettle. Elder leaves heated to the fire heal a sore.(continues on next page)
