   there. The change is that the shoemaker long ago had to make the shoes but nowadays the shoes are bought readymade in the shop. Shoes called clogs were worn in this district but never made. It was about four years since they were last worn. Shoes called gutaperkia were worn also. It is a memory of many who are living still. An old saying about shoes: When frost and snow come both together sit by the fire and spare shoeleather.
