- In the olden times the road that now leads to Ennismore turned off through the bogs near the railway-gates and at that time it was known as the monastry-road and the road can still be traced. It lead to the monastry in Ennismore and another ancient road ran from that to the Dysert churchyard, and then one to Rattoo the name of it was Boreen-dorca. In those days there was no river between Ennismore and Dysert and the road at each side of the river can be traced to this present day. Before Finuge bridge was built the people used cross the ford near Finuge. They used also cross the ford at Poulnahaha because there were no bridges in those days.
