  1. These are the names of the forges Cantys and Kirbys. In the townland of Ballyhorgan there is a forge owned by a man named Kirby. It has been in his for a very long time. The two forges are built longside a stream. Kirby's forge is covered with tarbarrels and Canty's forge is covered with felt. The doors of the forges are high and wide. One fire place and a bellows. They shoe horses and asses. They shoe wheels in the open air. He
