  1. In our district on John's night we light a bone fire and on St Martin's night also. Around Shrove most of the people get married. The special day for getting married is Shrove Tuesday. On St Patrick's day the people wear Shamrock on the band of their hats and on the capes of their coats. On Ash Wednesday people go to the chapel to get holy ashes on their foreheads. On St Brigid's day we make a cross with two [?] and put it on the wall. It is a custom on May Day to shake holy water on the cattle and on other farm
