  1. Long ago they had no goals it was parish against parish. The ball would be thrown up in the air and the best side to kick it home won. They used to have no referee. Then they began to decide it in the one field. They put down goals. The posts used to be eighteen feet apart. There were other posts put 20 feet out from each of those goal posts if the ball went between the two inner posts it would be a goal if the ball went between one of the inner and outer posts it would be a point. Then it was twenty one men at the side.
