The name best known in my townland is Costelloe, there being three families in it. All the houses in Ballyhorgan are slated.
Ballyhorgan got its name from the number of Horgans that lived in it long ago but only one family is there now. There are no people of over seventy years in my district. A good many people emigrated to America in former times from my district. The land in the townland of Ballyhorgan is good land and a lot of wood growing there. Ballyhorgan is bounded in the west by a canal and in the south by the river Feale.
