    have permission to fish. If a couple of fishers are joined in one net they cast lots for the hauls. They put each man's name on a piece of paper and they are put in a hat. Then one of them puts his hand in the hat and the first man's name out get first haul and so on to the end of the fishers.
    Most of the nets are about one hundred to one hundred and five yards long. One hundred yards of a net will only mount seventy five yards of a rope. The oars are made of elm, they are from ten to sixteen feet long and nine to ten inches wide at the flat end
