  1. Last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the races were held in Listowel.
    I was there the second day, there was a big crowd in town that day, but there were not many present the other two days.
    Never before was there such a number of shows in the Market. Never before either were there so many tinkers.
    The races were not much good this year. I did not go over to the Island, so I watched them from the Market cliff.
    All the people that backed favourites made money as it was the favourites won most of the races.
