    There was an old school in a barn in Scardaune long ago. The owner of the barn was Willie Gill. They were not alowed to speak Irish in the school. If any child spoke Irish in the school the teacher would beat him. The children had not pens or pencils at that time. They used to write on a slate with a chalk. The teacher's name was Mr. Ryan.
