  1. Long ago there was no white cow in Ireland. One day a farmer went out looking at his cattle and he saw a white fairy cow in the field. He told his neighbours and they came to see her. The man was giving milk to every one in the country and he was getting very rich. Every year the cow had a white calf. One day the farmer said he would kill her. When the day arrived the butcher was there. The people were very sorry. When the butcher was going to kill her she arose in the air and her calves followed her and they heard the fairy calling her and they never saw her again.
