  1. There are the ruins of an old castle in Mount Brown in the parish of Aughagower in the county Mayo. It was Lord Brown's castle. Lord Brown lived there about one hundred years ago. Lord Brown was a very cruel man. He used to go out riding on his horse every evening at nightfall and if anyone had the lamps lit in their homes he would get soldiers and police and have them hanged in the castle. If he got anyone inside the walls in Mount Brown he would get them hanged on a tree outside the door.
