  1. One night a man was coming home from visit. As he was going down a narrow boreen he heard the sound of a lorry, as he thought, coming behind him. He turned and saw a car coming after him. There were many lights in it. It was the cóiste bodhar. He had a blackthorn stick in his hand and he made the sign of the cross on the road with it. When the cóiste bodhar came as far as where the sign of the cross was
