    My father Thomas Collins said that long ago on May Ever the people used be afraid to sit on the grass for fear the fairies would carry them away and they used be afraid to go out late at night and on May Eve night the people used go out to the stalls and throw holy-water over the cows and then they used do the the same thing in stables bless the horses and then they used go out into the garden and bless the crops.
