    There was a man in Duagh long ago named bonnie the Poet.

    There was a man in Duagh long ago named Connie the Poet. Whenever a party or dance would take place within miles around bonnie was always the person to be invited for he used compose and sing marvellous songs for them. Without his company the night used be considered very dull. When he got old an unable to walk long journeys he missed his good time very much. But some of the kind people whom he used visit always called to his home to see him and never left him short of anything.

    This song was composed in Duagh during the fight for freedom in 1921.
