Mt mother Mrs. Ahern told me that when she was young she saw people on Saint Brig Bridget's Day going to Saint Bridget's well near Duagh and carrying with them coloured rags and putting the rags on little bushes around the well and then they used to say the rosary four or five times in honour of Saint Bridget.
    My mother told me that if you pick flowers on May Eve the fairies will strike you. There was a boy living in Duagh and his name was Paddy Buckley and on may Eve night he went out picking flowers and the next day when he got up he found his leg very sore and after a week he couldn't walk at all and he has a crutch now
