  1. The year 1917 was the year of the big snow. It started in January and it lasted for three weeks. In the morning when the people got up the snow was up to the doors. Some people happened to have spades or shovels out side the back doors and when those people got up they had to make a laneway to get to their barns to feed their cattle. It happened that some person died in the village and the corpse had to be left in the house for two days and a half of another before it could be brought to the chapel. When taking the coffin to the chapel the people had to walk over walls and
