  1. In the Penal days the priests used not be allowed to say mass in their churches. Sometimes they used to say mass out by the rocks int he mountains and other times they used to have a secret hut built for themselves to read mass in.
    A very bad man who lived about the time called Séan na Sagart used to kill priests. He used to go to bed pretend he was sick and send for a priest. He used to have is sword inside him in the bed and when the priest would come he would kill him with it.
    He killed many priests this way but at last he was captured and killed himself near Mayo Abbey.
