  1. In 1870 pupils in Aughahpower used to be in at half nine and the master needed to be in at nine o'clock in the morning. Who ever used to be in first would sweep the school. Some pupils used not be in until around ten and the master would slap them severely especially if it was a fine morning. Usually everyone used to be in at half nine when all the pupils would start work. From half nine until ten o'clock they used to occupy the time by reading out of their English books. The forth and fifth class would be doing sums on the desks while the sixth class would
