  1. The fairs forty years ago were twice as goof as the fairs now. They were twice as many cattle and sheep as there are now. The cattle were all mostly red and the sheep were all black-faced. There was not a good price for the cattle or for the sheep. For a bullock you would get only two pounds and the same for a heifer. For a cow five or six pounds and ten or eleven pounds for a horse were the highest prices obtainable. For a sheep fifteen or sixteen shillings was the outside,
