  1. About the year 1914 there was a great snow-storm in this country. Not only was it in this district but it was in the whole countryside. The snow was at least ten feet in depth.
    At that time there was a funeral coming form a place called Derrygarve to Aughagower. There were only about twenty people in the crowd. They tied a long rope to the coffin and slid it along the snow. When they came to bare spots they carried it on their shoulders. They didn't know where the roads were so they had to cross fields and bogs and it took them
