  1. Clare Island is a very big Island, and there are alot of houses there, compared with long ago. Up to the twelvth century the history of the Island, was a blank. There are two blessed wells there ; one of them dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, and the other to St. Bridget. Grace O'Malley lived there long ago, and she had a lot of castles there, which belonged to her father. Clare Island was ruled long ago, by the parish
