  1. My father has hens; ducks; and geese. The hens and ducks lay all through the year, and the geese lay in Spring. First of all the geese make a nest in the garden and they lay a great number of eggs. Every egg she lays in the garden is taken into the house and kept in a dish of oats. When the goose hatches the eggs are put under her in a box and she sits on them for four weeks and then the gosslings come out.
