  1. In olden days they made bread of oatmeal and they baked the bread beside the fire and they would not put it into anything. On Christmas morning in every house was a three cornered cake made of oatmeal and put standing beside the kettle to bake. When baked everybody in the house took three mouthfulls of this cake and three drops of cold water before they tasted of anything else.
