  1. Long ago there was a man walking on the strand. He saw a Mermaid sitting on a rock on the brink of the sea combing her hair. She had her cap left beside her on a rock. He stole up behind her and took it from her. He ran away with it and the Mermaid ran after him. She was calling him to give her her cap but he took no heed
