  1. Long ago there were not many slated houses. In the thatched houses there were two rooms and a kitchen. There was a place for a bed in the corner of the house and it was called a "hag" or "cailleach" and there were curtains hung outside the bed. It is a very warm place to sleep in. In the houses where there were small families they made the hag into a press where they kept
