  1. Many travellers come to Prizon district. Barony of Carra, parish of Balla, Co. Mayo. They are called tinkers or gipsies.
    The Mahons are tinkers. They sell tin-cans and saucepans of all sizes. They also mend leaking cans. They travel all round the country on a cart or some times walking.
    They ask alms such as flour, milk, tea, sugar, bread or butter or sometimes a few potatoes.
