  1. When a woman is going to put a clutch of eggs under a hen She first gets the eggs and a box with hay in it. She puts the eggs into a box and leaves the hen on them. The hen will be hatching on them for three weeks. Then the chickens come out of the eggs. It is said that eleven or thirteen eggs is a very lucky number to put under the hen. Ten or twelve eggs or any other even number is very unlucky.
