  1. There is no forge in the village of Tavanagh now but there was one until about nineteen years ago. Its ruins are still to be seen there, though no work is now carried on in it. The smith who owned that forge was Richard Bourke, and when he died the son who succeeded him did not continue the work.
    That forge was a stone building with a thatched roof. It has a big double door and one small window looking
