  1. About 50 years ago all the people had thatched houses. They used to grow wheat and oats and with the straw they thatched the house. In those houses there was always a bed in the kitchen and it was called the "hag". It was like a little house built in the side-wall but there was no door in it.
    The fire was always in the gable. Some houses had no chimneys on but the smoke went out the door and some-times
