  1. Everyone round here still makes St. Bridget's crosses. They are made of straw woven on a frame of two sticks in shape of a cross. They are then placed in the roof of the kitchen near a rafter on St. Bridget's night. They are often left on from year to year until many of them accumulate. St. Patrick's cross used to be made with ribbon on paper for the children to wear on St. Patrick's day.
