  1. Once upon a time there was a brave man named Edward Parson who lived in our village a good many years ago. He was of a very poor family and he went over to England to earn some money for themselves. While he was there a big war arose and one day a band of soldiers came to his house and asked him had he any ammunition and he answered and said he had not. So the soldiers were going to search the house and Edward would not let them. One of the soldiers attacked Edward.
